I crossed the Mona passage yesterday. It was a long, long crossing. Winds were never above 13 Kts and most of the time between 8 and 11, but the swells/chop came from stronger winds somewhere else. Big chops and little wind is not a good combination. I had to make long tacks using the engine most of the time to finally make it across. I left the marina at 9:30 and it must have been 1am when I entered the shallows in the west coast of Puerto Rico. My aim was Ponce but I was too late. The short night lee only allowed me to reach Las Pargueras.
I m anchored here at the bay. Will continue to Ponce at midnight.
